Open Studio + Print Tour

I will be hosting an open studio event as part of Mo'Prints, Month of Printmaking, presented by The Invisible Museum. This is just one of many events being held around Denver and the Front Range throughout March and April of 2018.

I am very excited to welcome everyone to Moyles Dorney Studio. I will be here to meet and greet anyone who would like a little look behind the scenes of the studio. Throughout the day I will do some printmaking demonstrations, showing visitors the process. I will have art and prints on display and for sale, but mostly I hope to talk shop with other visitors, artist, printmakers, and creative people. All are welcome and I am looking forward to it. I hope you can make it.

Check below for a full list of other Mo'Print events.

Mo’Print 2018 Offers Expanded Schedule of Printmaking Events

The Month of Printmaking, presented by The Invisible Museum, will be held in venues around Denver and the Front Range throughout March and into April of 2018. Our goal is to generate a critical mass of printmaking exhibitions and events happening in the Denver metropolitan area and the Front Range region to raise awareness of this ancient and diverse art form.

This will be the third biennial Mo’Print event, and our largest. Past Mo’Print events saw enthusiastic attendance at exhibitions, panel discussions or other interactive events. We hope to expand on this involvement for 2018 with a full schedule that includes demos, shows and workshops from Fort Collins and Loveland to Parker; from Downtown Aurora to the 40 West Arts District in Lakewood.

Mo’Print was awarded “Best Arts Marathon” in the 2014 Westword “Best of Denver”, and a signature Mo’Print show, “Open Press: Celebrating 25 Years of Printmaking” won “Best Snapshot of Denver Art.”

Those interested in participating in Mo’Print 2018 events, whether to see individual artist studios, print, letterpress or book binding studios, or galleries and museum exhibitions are encouraged to go to http://moprint.org/. An interactive calendar featuring photos and descriptions of each event is posted for each date. There are over 70 events and ongoing shows in March alone. Many are free, and family-friendly.

The schedule officially kicks off with an opening reception for “Master Printmakers and Print Educators in Colorado” at the McNichols Building on February 23, and doesn’t end until the ever-popular Steamroller Printmaking event, April 21 on the RMCAD campus. Other highlights include: An Open Portfolio event at Redline Gallery where any printmaker can sell or trade prints; a Studio Tour where over 30 artists in all different disciplines will tell you about or demonstrate their work, an Ink Mixer where you can meet and greet in a relaxed atmosphere in one of Denver’s best print studios, and a fundraiser at Trve Brewery, where you can start your print collection for only $10!

Get Started Screen Printing

In this class you will learn the basics of screen printing. We will cover everything you need to know to get started printing on your own. We will cover supplies, tools and set up. You will learn how to use photo sensitive emulsion, and how to coat your screens. We will cover how to prepare your artwork for printing. This class is set up to get you printing on paper or other flat materials. The techniques easily translate to fabric printing if you want to try printing on tee shirts after you learn the basics. We will also learn how to clean and reclaim the screens after the printing is complete. I will demonstrate each step and give everyone a turn at making a print. We will print a poster that explains all the steps so you have a cool looking reference tool to help when printing on your own. This is a fun class that will get you started screen printing. We will be working with inks and emulsion so please dress accordingly just in case it gets a little messy. The class is held in the Capitol Hill neighborhood at Colfax and Logan. There is a public parking lot directly across the street as well as metered street parking. You should leave this class with a clear understanding of the screen printing process and how to set up your own print work station at home.
